Your Options

Here is some information about each option:

Parental Notification: This means that you must let your parents know that you are having an abortion before the procedure occurs. You can 1) have a parent come with you to the appointment, or 2) you can complete this form and bring it with you to the appointment, or 3) we can mail a certified letter to your parent and then wait at least 48 hours before the procedure occurs. The notification process does not mean that your parent approves or agrees with your decision, and they will not be able to access your confidential medical records.
Legal (judicial) Bypass: If you decide that you cannot notify your parent or legal guardian of your decision to have an abortion, we will assist you in a process called legal (judicial) bypass. This service is free, and you will meet with a lawyer who will support you to explain to a judge why you are mature enough to make this decision on your own.
In some cases, people who are age 15 and older, living apart from their parents and managing their own finances, or married, can consent to all medical care, including abortion , on their own.
