Physicians - Meet Dr. Ruth Weinberg
Ruth K. Weinberg, MD, a board-certified gynecologist, is the medical director at Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center, serving those in and around Boulder and Longmont, Colorado. She provides specialized gynecologic care when it’s outside the scope of practice of our advanced practice nurses.
Dr. Weinberg has special expertise in managing hormonal therapy for transgender patients. She also performs any necessary outpatient procedures for gynecologic needs at the Boulder location. Dr. Weinberg delivers care with compassion and commitment to the patient’s well-being. She, like the entire staff at Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center, takes into consideration the patient’s lifestyle, family situation, reproductive needs and desires, and personal preferences when treating gynecological issues.
Dr. Weinberg accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most insurance plans. She also sees patients on a sliding fee scale based on their income. Her educational efforts focus on providing nonjudgmental information and encouraging personal responsibility and decision-making. Each patient’s life situation is honored, with a goal of empowering patients to make responsible reproductive healthcare choices.
Advanced Practice Nurses
Well Woman exams and family planning services at Women’s Health are provided by specially trained advanced practice nurses (Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Midwives). Advanced Practice Nurses are qualified to provide much of the medical care patients need and can also write prescriptions. Our APNs are experts in the full range of birth control methods. They provide screenings for breast and cervical cancer, and also provide comprehensive health screenings to identify other potential health issues, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and depression.
There are currently five nurse practitioners on our team who provide a wide variety of services. Each has her own expertise and passions. Our clinical director is also a nurse practitioner, and enjoys being able to provide patient care sometimes in addition to her administrative role.
All services provided to patients at Women’s Health take into consideration the patient’s lifestyle, family situation, reproductive needs and desires, and personal preferences — truly a holistic approach. Each patient’s life situation is honored, with a goal of empowering women and men to make responsible reproductive healthcare choices. Our educational efforts focus on providing nonjudgmental information and encouraging personal responsibility and decision-making.
